Record visits - Len Lye exhibition
The Nelson Resene ColorShop was proud to provide paint and assistance to The Suter Te Aratoi o Whakatu, Nelson's public art museum for an exhibition in June of one of New Zealand's best-known expatriate artists, Len Lye (1901-1980). Lye is internationally regarded for his groundbreaking experimental films and kinetic sculpture and Len Lye: Individual Happiness Now! explored 50 years of Lye's writings, drawings, painting, photography, film and kinetic sculpture around his concept of art, being and time.

Resene supplied The Suter with Resene Spacecote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Bright Red and Resene Set Black. The major transformation that this allowed the gallery to undertake created considerable interest during the exhibition, which received a record 8000 visitors during the six-week period.

The exhibition was lent to The Suter by the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery (the home of the Len Lye Collection) and The Len Lye Foundation in New Plymouth, and was supported by The Lodge at Paratiho Farms and Irving Smith Jack Architects. The Lodge at Paratiho Farms generously supported the exhibition by providing seeding funding and Irving Smith Jack Architects were proud to continue their active support for the arts and the partnership between art and architecture to bring this fantastic art event to Nelson.
