Treasured possession - Opiki historical home
Built in the 1930's by the Akers family, descendants of the original builders still call this superb Opiki, Palmerston North sited historical building home. The home's stately appearance and scale made this one residential exterior repaint that no right minded DIY customer would tackle.

With heritage to guide the colour and product selection, the colour scheme of Resene Wheatfield (neutral cream on walls under eaves), Resene Double Wheatfield (concrete base), Resene Karaka (dark khaki green on roof and accents), Resene Granite Green (smoky grey green on gables/shingles), Resene Pavlova (neutral cream on windows and door frames) and Resene Peat (smoky brown on fascias, bargeboards and accents) designed to fit the age of the house and the environment.

In keeping with the popular gloss finishes typical of the period, Resene Hi-Glo acrylic gloss was selected for all wall and roof areas complemented by Resene Enamacryl gloss waterbased enamel on window frames and doors.

Restored with pride, all who have worked on this project describe the absolute pleasure in seeing a home of this quality and originality lovingly and painstakingly returned to its deserved state.
