Bright and happy

After many years of dreaming and browsing Your Home & Garden magazine, it was not until Dorothy’s own two daughters had grown up and left home that she had the time and energy to convert a plain ordinary bedroom into a special room for the little girls of the next generation who were coming to play and stay over on a regular basis.

The room did not get a lot of sun and Dorothy wanted something bright and happy. She chose Resene Fuel Yellow for the feature wall and the rest of the walls and trim are painted in Resene Dutch White. This forms the backdrop for the lime green and bright pink accessories, mainly purchased from Spotlight and The Warehouse.

This room is treasured by the now eight little girls who are regular visitors and who often compete to stay in ‘Dot’s fairy room’. They visit most Sundays and happily disappear into the room where make believe is alive and well.

They now have two little boys who would love a special room of their own too!
