Kiwiana influence

Before emigrating from England, and being in love with, and “homesick’ for, New Zealand, Julie had already decided that their new home would have a gentle/subtle kiwiana theme running through it.

In the bathroom, they have used white rectangular gloss ceramic bevelled tiles ‘stacked’ with Morris and James handpainted kiwiana tiles placed sporadically amongst the white tiles. The walls were painted in Resene Bullitt complemented by the coving and ceiling in Resene Half Spanish White.

They were aware that they would need to use reflective surfaces to avoid the room being closed in. To achieve this they have sacrificed the bath completely to allow room for a curved shower unit, chrome and glass, and a large wall hung glass sink that came with a large glass mirror with a glass shelf running along the bottom of it.

They have carried the same colour theme into the separate toilet. Aluminium venetian blinds and large rectangular ceramic floor tiles feature in both rooms.
